Wadia celebrates CHD awareness week with children

Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital for Children (“Wadia Hospital“) celebrated the end of CHD Awareness Week on Valentine’s Day. The hospital distributed heart-shaped red balloons and hosted events to raise awareness about congenital heart disease (CHD). The events included educational sessions and a magic show. The hospital also honored pediatric patients who had cardiac surgeries.

CHD is a serious health issue in India. About 1.5-2 lakh children are born with CHD every year and need timely intervention. Many children do not get proper diagnosis and treatment for CHD. This leads to high death rates and long-term health problems for survivors. Parents often lack awareness about CHD and its treatment options. This causes delay in diagnosis and intervention, resulting in worse outcomes for children.

Wadia Hospital organized the awareness program to educate parents and children about CHD. The hospital also celebrated the courage and resilience of the children who battled CHD.

Dr Minnie Bodhanwala, CEO, Wadia Hospital, said, “We started the congenital heart disease awareness week with fun and educational activities. The kids loved the magic shows and the red balloons. We honored the brave children who had heart surgeries. We praised their courage and resilience in an inspiring event. Wadia Hospital shows how compassionate care can transform pediatric patients. The education sessions urged parents to get timely screening, diagnosis, and treatment for their children.”
