First-ever industry symposium to raise awareness on infection outbreak containment
Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre, leading multi-super-specialty hospital in Mumbaiorganized INFECON 2019 – a pioneering initiative to raise awareness around infection outbreak containment. This event was aimed to showcase the importance of the Department of Infectious Diseases in treatment of patients and its critical role in controlling the spread of infection, in hospitals.
This was the first edition of INFECON, wherein doctors from reputed hospitals across the city shared their insights and best practices implemented in hospitals to curtail any infection spread, ensuring the wellbeing of the patients and society at large.
Speaking about this initiative, Dr Om Shrivastav, Infectious Diseases Specialist said, “A very critical process in any hospital is the adequate measures taken to curtail outbreak of infection, but there is low awareness about it. So with INFECON we wanted to provide a platform for hospitals to showcase their best practices and various methods implemented for infection outbreak containment, and also highlight the role of Department of Infectious Diseases, in the speedy recovery of the patient. This year was the first edition and we are overwhelmed by the enthusiastic participation and the depth of knowledge shared over the two days of the event, making this endeavour beneficial to the healthcare fraternity at large”
INFECON 2019 had expert doctors from various hospitals present their case studies and insights on infection outbreak containment, followed by panel discussions to deliberate on new trends in this space, looking at it from the lens of global perspective. The case studies covered interesting aspects aroundinfection outbreak containment in Ophthalmology, infectious outbreak in dialysis unit, hospital based outbreaks, water borne outbreaks, ICU outbreaks, amongst other equally knowledge-led sessions. In addition, there also was a workshop on best practices of infection control in hospitals, followed by debate rounds based on industry trends.
