An elderly couple from Hyderabad, CV Shastry, 80, and his wife, C Bhagyalakshmi, 75, underwent total knee replacement surgery at Medicover Hospitals, Navi Mumbai. The surgeries were conducted by Dr Deepak Gautam, Consultant Joint Replacement & Director of Orthopedic Disciplines, and his team. The couple, who had been experiencing severe osteoarthritis in their knees and difficulty walking for nearly 15 years, regained full mobility following the successful procedure.
The couple’s son, CM Vijayakumar, a banking professional based in Navi Mumbai, approached Medicover Hospitals to help his parents. “The couple came to the hospital with their son’s support,” said Dr Gautam. “Their X-rays revealed degenerative changes in their knees. They were ideal candidates for knee replacement surgery.”
Dr Gautam added, “The couple underwent total knee replacement sequentially in the same stretch of admission and got discharged the same day. They could walk pain-free the next day after surgery.”
