Global leaders in trichology and dermatology participated in a session organized by Global Cosmetic Surgery’s flagship initiative, Hair Talks, to talk about the revolutionary potential of artificial intelligence in the diagnosis and treatment of hair loss. The discussion focused on how the precision-driven developments in AI are changing the patient experience in hair restoration while also improving clinical results.

With millions of people experiencing hair loss worldwide, the use of AI represents a major advancement in the diagnosis of intricate hair loss disorders, treatment customization, and the provision of predictive insights that improve patient satisfaction and adherence.

The session featured a keynote address by Mr. Arshan Ommid, Founder and CEO of Dermose, California, and was moderated by Dr. Michael Gold, Founder and Medical Director of Gold Skin Care Center, Advanced Aesthetics Medical Spa, and The Laser & Rejuvenation Center, Tennessee. The other panelists included Dr. Arundha Abrol, Consultant at Skinfinity Derma Skin, Hair, and Laser Clinic, Sama Hospital, Delhi; Dr. Garima Balpande, MD Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy; Consultant at The Skin Ethos, Durg, Chhattisgarh; Dr. Harsimran Kaur, Dermatologist and Aesthetic Dermatologist at Kaya Clinic, Vasant Kunj, Delhi; Dr. Komal Doshi, Fellow, Facial Plastic Surgery and Facial Cosmetic Surgery, The Esthetic Clinics, Mumbai; and Dr. Mahesh Gosavi, Hair Transplant Surgeon and Consultant at Esthetic Clinics, Mumbai.

Dr. Garima Balpande said, “AI empowers us to revolutionize hair loss diagnosis by providing real-time visual feedback and personalized insights. It encourages patient compliance by integrating behavioral nudges and monitoring tools, enabling better adherence and ultimately enhancing treatment outcomes.”

Arshan Ommid, Founder and CEO of Dermose, added, “AI has the unprecedented ability to analyze the complexities of hair loss—from genetic predispositions to lifestyle factors—creating a holistic diagnostic framework. This precision equips clinicians to design truly tailored treatments, giving patients confidence in both the process and the outcome.”

Ommid emphasized in his presentation how artificial intelligence tools such as computer vision and big data analytics are transforming the treatment of chronic conditions by allowing physicians to automate the identification of biomarkers for hair loss and combine thorough lab results with trichoscopic data. These developments significantly shorten diagnostic times while increasing precision, enabling patients to start receiving efficient treatments earlier.

The experts concurred that by expediting the diagnostic and prognostic process, AI is resolving long-standing issues in the management of hair loss. Conventional diagnostic methods frequently depend on invasive techniques like biopsies and subjective interpretations. These days, AI-powered solutions provide unbiased, measurable insights into hair loss trends, enhancing both early detection and long-term care.

Dr Harsimran Kaur, a panelist and seasoned dermatologist added, “AI bridges the gap between complexity and clarity in hair loss diagnosis. It provides granular insights that were previously invisible to the human eye, from detecting early-stage hair thinning to predicting treatment efficacy. With AI, we can offer patients not only hope but also measurable outcomes backed by science.”

The discussion also emphasized how AI can empower patients by improving compliance and providing visual cues. Personalized treatment reminders, progress tracking, and real-time scalp imaging help patients stay motivated and follow their regimens throughout their treatment.

Dr. Michael Gold added, “For patients, hair loss is more than a medical condition—it’s deeply tied to identity and self-esteem. AI allows us to offer precision-driven hope. By combining advanced diagnostics with personalized care pathways, we are setting new standards for trust and efficacy in hair restoration.”

AI’s applications in trichology go beyond diagnostics. Predictive algorithms are increasingly being used to determine a patient’s responsiveness to treatments like minoxidil, saving time and resources. Emerging technologies, such as AI-enhanced microneedling protocols and personalized therapeutic combinations, promise to redefine treatment outcomes.

The session also explored exciting prospects like integrating AI with gene-editing technologies and bioengineered solutions such as biomimetic polypeptides and exosomal therapies, paving the way for groundbreaking innovations in non-surgical hair restoration.
