Pharmed Limited and BioPlus Group mourn the loss of Krishan Kumar Aurora, a longtime leader in the Indian pharmaceutical sector.
Aurora, Pharmed Limited’s Chairman Emeritus, died on December 23, 2024, at the age of 88, the Pharmed and BioPlus team informed in a press release.
Aurora was a trailblazer who devoted his life to bringing about significant change in the Indian pharmaceutical sector. Healthcare providers praised Pharmed and BioPlus Group under his leadership as they became known for their innovation, quality, and excellence.
Aurora’s illustrious career spanned over six decades. After graduating from Bombay University, he began his journey as an accountant with A.F. Fergusons, followed by Boots Pure Drug Co. (India) Ltd. In 1961, he started his remarkable tenure at Smith Kline & French (India) Ltd. and rose to become Managing Director and later International Vice President for Southeast Asia.
In 1973, Aurora joined the Executive Committee of the Organization of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI) and played a pivotal role in tackling key industry challenges, driving impactful changes that strengthened the pharmaceutical landscape. As the President of the Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (1988-89), he spearheaded significant initiatives, including setting up the Chamber’s first office in Bangalore. He also successfully advocated for industrial relief on taxes and levies for captive power generation.
In 1990, Aurora took over Pharmed Limited, transforming it into a trusted and respected name in the Indian Pharmaceutical Industry. In 2023, the Karnataka Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Manufacturers Association honored his unparalleled contributions to the pharmaceutical industry.Â
Aurora’s legacy continues through his sons, Sundeep Aurora, Sunjeev Aurora and Suneet Aurora, who uphold his values and leadership at BioPlus Group and Pharmed Limited.
