HOSMAC, the healthcare management and planning consultancy has been responsible for setting up state-of-the-art COVID hospitals during the deadly second wave of the pandemic. Major companies such as Vedanta, a leading producer of metals, oil & gas, and the Ambuja Neotia Group joined hands with HOSMAC to conceptualize and execute their field hospitals comprising oxygenated beds, ICU beds & ventilators.
Dr. Vivek Desai, Founder & Managing Director of HOSMAC said “At a time when the COVID wave is spreading like a wildfire and there is a need to grow healthcare facilities in the country, the gesture of setting up Field Hospitals by the two companies is a welcome step. These well-equipped hospitals will be a shot in the arm for the district administration which has been struggling to cope up. It is a very good example of public-private partnership in times of dire need and I hope more such hospitals will get set up in collaboration with the industry.”
So far, HOSMAC has helped set up 1100 state-of-the-art beds with 200 ICU beds, 100 having ventilators. The hospitals for Vedanta have been set up in tier 2/3 towns where the need is acute. The temporary health facility is based on a unique and innovative rental model, wherein the contractor rents infrastructure requirements like the tent, beds, mattresses, air-conditioning system, toilets, electrical systems and fixtures to the client as well as are responsible for its maintenance for 6 months.
Each field hospital is attached to a district hospital for clinical management of the patients. The newly setup Vinod Neotia Covid Care Centre is located in Kolkata and is adjacent to their existing hospital. Patients will be charged a reasonable amount per bed per day in order to meet the basic expenses.
